Spoiler: Episode One Season Two

Shan

The second season premiere of True Blood brought in record ratings for  HBO on Sunday.

The bloody,  sexy vampire series pulled in 3.7 million viewers.

According to Variety, the number was the highest to tune in to an original HBO program since The Sopranos finale in 2007.

True Blood averaged two million viewers per episode over its first season.

So what did the more than 3 million viewers see on Sunday?

The episode began with a heart stopping scream as Sookie,  Tara and Andy find a dead body  in the back of Andy’s car in the parking lot of Merlotte’s.

“Please tell me it’s not Lafayette,” says Tara, trembling.

The corpse  is Miss Jeanette,  with her face frozen in agony and her heart ripped from her chest.  She is the crazy  exorcist that rid
Tara and her mama of their demons.  So what we were all made to believe is now been proven false…..Layfette is NOT dead!!!! So where is he?

Bill is still dealing with Jessica,  the  17 year old unruly newbie that Sookie is just now finding out about.  She comes over to find her there coming fresh out of the shower and is confused and upset.  Then goes on questioning Bill.

“You bit her? You drained her blood? Did you have sex with her? How am
I supposed to ever trust you if you keep something like that from me?”

She eventually returns, ofcourse she can’t resisit him, to question him about his involvement in her Uncle’s death.  And for some reason Bill just can’t lie to Sookie.   She tries to be angry with him but he begins gets all passinate on her claiming that  she is “his miriacle” and he refuses to loose her.  She melts and gives in to him.  You know and episode would not be complete without some hot sex, espisally between Bill and Sookie.  The get all intense Bill’s  fangs come out and he bites her neck ; blood runs down her neck and he kisses her mouth transferring blood all over her lips.  So what is this leading too?  Anything significant?

We also find out the connectin between Sam and Maryann.  When Sam was 17 years old he snuck into Maryann’s home, after shifting to a dog, and roamed her house naked stealing things, including a ton of cash that he later in the show tries to return to her but she refuses, and putting them into a trashbag.   She catches him and then they proceed to get intimate.    AHHHHH….so that’s it?

sam-and-maryann

As Sookie is trying to pack up Gran’s things a lawyer shows up to tells her that
her Great-Uncle Bartlett is dead, washed up in Walnut Creek, seemingly
an accident.  And guess what?  The molester left her all of his money: $11,000. Sookie
reluctantly takes it but eventually gives it Jason.

Jason has been reading  the Fellowship of the Sun book and slowly buying into its whole the-dark-ones-are-bad belief.   He later attends a brunch after the interview with Steve Newlin Ori, who began  recruiting
Jason to the church when Jason was in jail last season, introduces
Jason to Steve. They invite him to pay $1,200 to be a part of the Light
of Day Institute Leadership conference.

“There’s no price for
salvation,” says Steve “Why don’t you pray on
it,” says  Sarah, Steve’s wife. “God will give you a sign.”

Now rember Sookie gave Jason her inheiratence from her molester uncle and it was conviently $1,100….HMMMMMM

At Maryann’s house Tara and her new found friend, “Eggs Benedict” are lounging and chatting poolside smoking pot and eating exotic fruit.   They seem to be very attracted to each other and get intrupted from their possible first kiss by some towel.   But that didn’t stop Tara’s friend, they later engage in a long passionate kiss at Merlotte’s, where Sam sees them and looks less than thrilled.

OH YEA….about Lafayette   (kept you hangin), he is definitely not dead.  YAY!!!   He finds himself chained by his neck, like a dog, to a turning wheel of some sort with some other humans in a dark dungeon.    There is an additon added to the dungeon, this addition being one of the rude customers that Lafayette beat up at Merlotte’s for being a gay basher.  Later in the episode ERIC comes in, as Layfette hides, questioning the new addtion:

“We have a few questions for you in regards to a fire that killed three of our own,” he asks.

The man throws a silver necklace at Erics face and burns him.  Eric rages and in demon-like rage starts biting and ripping away at him.

So what’s next?   We will see Sunday!

About True Blood

True Blood is a series created and produced by Alan Ball.  It is based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series; also known as The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris.  True Blood premiered on September 7, 2008.

The series takes place in Bon Temps, a made up town in Louisanna.  It follows Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress at Merlotte’s(owned by Sam Merlotte, a shapeshifter who watches over Sookie as a collie dog)  who falls in love with a vampire(Bill).  Sookie has telepathic abilities but is unable to read Bill’s mind   since vampires  have no brainwave activity.  She and her brother Jason were raised by their grandmother.

There are a string of murders in Bon Temps.  Who is the killer?  After Jason is jailed and accused, even for his own grandmother’s death, the murderer is revealed.   Rene , a co-worker of Jason’s  with a heavy “cajun” accent, comes out as the murderer.
