Spoiler: Recap Episode Two Season Two
The second episode begins with Eric drenched in the blood of the man he has just torn to pieces and demanding that Lafayette tell him if there is blood in his hair
Bill and Sookie discuss the challenges that Jessica may have. Bill believes that she has no humanity and is stuggling with the transformations and cannot control her impulses.
“So how is that different from being a teenage girl?” asks Sookie.
Pam and Eric question Lafayette about the gay vampire Eddie, whom he used to have sex with in exchange for the V that he sold. Lafayette reveals that he thinks Jason kidnapped Eddie. Eric doesn’t like Lafayette’s answer and throws him back into the dungeon. Once Lafayette is alone in the dungeon he pulls the metal hip from the dead man’s severed leg, uses it to break his chain and is about to be free and out of Fangtasia when a human bartender stops him and then shoots him in the leg.
Layfette is then taken to a room to wait for Eric to return. Once he arrives Layfette asks them to make him a vampire.

“Not only will I be a bad-ass vampire, but I’ll be your bad-ass vampire.”

Eric says he will consider it and then the trio dig their fangs into him like they haven’t feed in years.

Jason attends a leadership camp for the Fellowship of the Sun. He meets former high school football player named Luke McDonald who quickly becomes his bunkie. The attendees and Jason play capture the flag and Jason beats Luke in the game.

Later Jason participates in a leadership-camp pep rally. Jason is then is called onstage to act out a scene with Sarah Newlin in which Newlin plays a vampire and Jason a member of the vampire-hating Fellowship of the Sun.

Jason gets a little carried away with the scene, while having flashbacks of his incident with Eddie frome season one.

Tara tries to unveil Eggs’ secrets. He comes clean with her and tells her that he has done time for dealing and using drugs, he’s broke, and when Mary Ann found him he was living under a bridge.

Mary Ann visits Merlotte’s. Sam is all but thrilled to see her there. She tells Sam the least he could do is let her order some food in exchange for the non payment of the “loan”. He agrees only because she threatens to tell his patrons his secrets. She orders food non-stop for hours, pretty much everything on the menu. Once she is full she begins to put some sort of hex on the whole bar and sends them into a sex craze dancing state.

Sam gets angry once he realizes what has happened and confronts her and they go to his office where Maryann starts fluttering with magic and turns Sam into a dog. She warns and reminds him that she can do this to him anytime she wants.

Bill gets approached by Eric, while shopping for Jessica. Eric asks Bill to use Sookie’s powers to find a vampire named Godric and has gone missing in Dallas. Bill refuses to give Eric persmission, irrating Eric whom claims he is making a mistake by not giving his blessing.

Jessica cries bloody tears, literally, about how horrible it is to be a vampire, how much she misses her parents and beggs Sookie please drive her to their house so she can see them for one last time through the window? Sookie agrees to do so but only if Jessica promises not to tell Bill. And boy did Sookie make a big mistake.

Once Jessica and Sookie get to Jessica’s house Jessica sees her mom in the window. She flis to the front door in her wicked fast vampire run before Sookie even knows what’s happening. She knocks, her mother answers and is estatic to see her. Sookie reminds her to not cry. Her little sister Edie invites them in, which is the only way she could get in is by being invited by a member of the household. Sookie is so fruious and curses her out. When Jessica’s dad comes home, they hug and then in an instant he begins to let her have it and then Jessica’s fangs come out.

“Go ahead Daddy, get your belt, but this time I’ll be ready for you.”
Jessica calls her dad “mean as a snake” and her mom ” dumb as nails” , makes her poor little sister cry and pushes Sookie into the piano. She is ready to get her revenge. Then Bill busts the door down and “commands” Jessica to stop, as “her maker”.
He covinces Edie to invite him in, telling Sookie to “Shut up!” and pushes her out the door claiming so he can clean up her mess. Sookie begs Bill to not kill them. Bill wickedly fast-walks to Jessica’s dad. His face twists in anger and he growls.

Will Bill kill or will he remember Sookie’s last words to him? Will Eric decide to make Layfette a bad-ass vampire? And how will he get to Sookie since Bill does not give his blessing?
Spoiler: Episode One Season Two
The second season premiere of True Blood brought in record ratings for HBO on Sunday.
The bloody, sexy vampire series pulled in 3.7 million viewers.
According to Variety, the number was the highest to tune in to an original HBO program since The Sopranos finale in 2007.
True Blood averaged two million viewers per episode over its first season.
So what did the more than 3 million viewers see on Sunday?
The episode began with a heart stopping scream as Sookie, Tara and Andy find a dead body in the back of Andy’s car in the parking lot of Merlotte’s.

“Please tell me it’s not Lafayette,” says Tara, trembling.
The corpse is Miss Jeanette, with her face frozen in agony and her heart ripped from her chest. She is the crazy exorcist that rid
Tara and her mama of their demons. So what we were all made to believe is now been proven false…..Layfette is NOT dead!!!! So where is he?
Bill is still dealing with Jessica, the 17 year old unruly newbie that Sookie is just now finding out about. She comes over to find her there coming fresh out of the shower and is confused and upset. Then goes on questioning Bill.
“You bit her? You drained her blood? Did you have sex with her? How am
I supposed to ever trust you if you keep something like that from me?”
She eventually returns, ofcourse she can’t resisit him, to question him about his involvement in her Uncle’s death. And for some reason Bill just can’t lie to Sookie. She tries to be angry with him but he begins gets all passinate on her claiming that she is “his miriacle” and he refuses to loose her. She melts and gives in to him. You know and episode would not be complete without some hot sex, espisally between Bill and Sookie. The get all intense Bill’s fangs come out and he bites her neck ; blood runs down her neck and he kisses her mouth transferring blood all over her lips. So what is this leading too? Anything significant?

We also find out the connectin between Sam and Maryann. When Sam was 17 years old he snuck into Maryann’s home, after shifting to a dog, and roamed her house naked stealing things, including a ton of cash that he later in the show tries to return to her but she refuses, and putting them into a trashbag. She catches him and then they proceed to get intimate. AHHHHH….so that’s it?

As Sookie is trying to pack up Gran’s things a lawyer shows up to tells her that
her Great-Uncle Bartlett is dead, washed up in Walnut Creek, seemingly
an accident. And guess what? The molester left her all of his money: $11,000. Sookie
reluctantly takes it but eventually gives it Jason.
Jason has been reading the Fellowship of the Sun book and slowly buying into its whole the-dark-ones-are-bad belief. He later attends a brunch after the interview with Steve Newlin Ori, who began recruiting
Jason to the church when Jason was in jail last season, introduces
Jason to Steve. They invite him to pay $1,200 to be a part of the Light
of Day Institute Leadership conference.
“There’s no price for
salvation,” says Steve “Why don’t you pray on
it,” says Sarah, Steve’s wife. “God will give you a sign.”
Now rember Sookie gave Jason her inheiratence from her molester uncle and it was conviently $1,100….HMMMMMM
At Maryann’s house Tara and her new found friend, “Eggs Benedict” are lounging and chatting poolside smoking pot and eating exotic fruit. They seem to be very attracted to each other and get intrupted from their possible first kiss by some towel. But that didn’t stop Tara’s friend, they later engage in a long passionate kiss at Merlotte’s, where Sam sees them and looks less than thrilled.

OH YEA….about Lafayette (kept you hangin), he is definitely not dead. YAY!!! He finds himself chained by his neck, like a dog, to a turning wheel of some sort with some other humans in a dark dungeon. There is an additon added to the dungeon, this addition being one of the rude customers that Lafayette beat up at Merlotte’s for being a gay basher. Later in the episode ERIC comes in, as Layfette hides, questioning the new addtion:
“We have a few questions for you in regards to a fire that killed three of our own,” he asks.
The man throws a silver necklace at Erics face and burns him. Eric rages and in demon-like rage starts biting and ripping away at him.
So what’s next? We will see Sunday!
Sokie to get naked more this season!
For all the man fans of True Blood….you guys will love this!!!
Anna Paquin says this season will be more skin then the first one.

“I get more naked this season than I did last season,” she says, adding later, “We have a really great crew and everyone’s really respectful. It’s not an issue for me.”
But it does mean a lot more time at the gym.
“I work my ass off,” Paquin says. “I’m very careful about what I eat, and I work out a lot. My costume entails bathing suits, short-shorts and nude scenes, come on! I don’t want to be perpetuating the myth that women actually do look exactly like the way they look in magazines and on television through absolutely no effort!”
About the show she says…..
“The stories are exciting and sexy and scary and engaging. The characters are all very, very, clearly drawn and real, even though we take place in a very sort of surreal world, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat,” Paquin says. “And every time you think things are going to go smoothly, something really effed up happens.”
There has also been a lot of comparison of True Blood with Twilight. As a True Blood fan I know that there are some similarities sure….vampires, hot kisses, great actors and actress but really? I don’t think so and neither does Anna *Sokie*.
“They’re completely different age groups that they’re trying to appeal to,” says the Oscar and Golden Globe winner . “It wouldn’t be appropriate for teenagers to be watching our show. I wouldn’t have been allowed to.”
Don’t they make a cute REAL couple?
Yes Sokie and Bill are really a couple off set of True Blood!!! Maybe that’s why they can be so passionate on the show….it helps I am sure!!!

Interview with Trueblood’s music supervisor…
True Blood’s music supervisor, Gary Calamar, talks about a few things.
I heard that Alan Ball found the opening title song, Jace Everett’s ‘Bad Things’ on iTunes, and you weren’t particularly taken with it at first. Yeah, it’s not that I wasn’t taken with it. It was almost too easy, or too perfect. It gave me the challenge to go out and try to find something even better.
Were there any runners up? We could never really come close. At the end of every conversation we never really got any better than what we had.
How much leeway and freedom does Alan allow you to do what you want? He gives me total freedom. Basically I’m pitching ideas to him knowing what he likes, the sensibility of the show, and what I think works. I’ll usually give him several different ideas for each scene and they could be in somewhat different directions, but hopefully it’ll have the same basic thread of True Blood going through it. Sometimes he has an idea about one thing and I pitch him something totally different and he’ll say ‘yeah, lets go with that.’ He’s open to everything. He does make his decision at the end of the day, though.
Has there ever been a song you really loved that he completely shot down? It happens all the time. It actually happened on Six Feet Under a lot. One was New Slang by The Shins, and it was a good year before it came out on Garden State. It was a great scene when they traveled up to Portland for an episode. Then we wound up going with Yo La Tengo. There was another scene where there was this beautiful Son Volt song that I’d loved and worked fantastically, and we wound up going with something else. There are some heartbreaks to the job of music supervisor.
Did it kill you when you wound up hearing New Slang in Garden State? It was definitely a little jab, especially that Zach Braff is given all the credit for discovering them. It was a little annoying, like what the heck?!
What does Alan like to listen to? What’s his taste? I’m not really sure. I wouldn’t say Alan and I socialize together and go to clubs or anything, but I really don’t know what his favorite music is. He is well versed on all types of music, and he certainly knows the sound of the shows he’s working on. He had a song for every cue on Six Feet Under. With True Blood he’s very particular down to if we’re in a department store, we’ll go through ten different muzak cues to pick out exactly the right thing.
Every episode of True Blood is named after a song featured in that episode. Can you talk about how that came about? That, I didn’t really have very much to do with. It was just kind of handed to me that way. It’s actually very cool, but it makes it a little more difficult for me. Sometimes a song that we have initially titled the episode after, for whatever reason, is not working in the show the way they thought it would when they wrote the script. Sometimes I have to squeeze a song in just because the episode is titled after it. What we’ve done once or twice is actually change the title of the episode because a particular song didn’t work and we ended up going with a different title from a different song.
When did that happen? It’s one that’s coming up. I don’t know if I should say.
They choose the name for a title based on your decision for a song, right? Well the writers choose it from writing the script.
So you have to find a way to fit that song in based on the writers’ decision? Yeah, I mean generally when they’re writing it they have an idea that this particular song will go in this spot, and that happens quite often that when they’re writing it’s much different after it’s shot, or they drop that scene or the song doesn’t work.
The first episode of the new season is titled Nothing But The Blood. There are a lot of versions of that song. Which one did you use? We used a Randy Travis version of that but you’re right, there are a bunch of versions. There’s a really spooky acapella gospel version, and we went through several different ones before we decided.
Is there anything you’re really looking forward to this season? I’ll just say that the show was definitely wild last year and it’s wilder and wilder this year. One of the songs on the soundtrack which is coming up in season two is a favorite song of mine. I’m so excited it’s on the soundtrack. I think it’s one of the only songs that’s on the soundtrack from season two, and it’s called Golden State by John Doe and Kathleen Edwards. That’s a musical highlight.
Has it been difficult working within the framework of the Southern/Louisiana genre? No, I love the genre. I knew a good amount about it before the show but now I was given the opportunity to dig even deeper and learn even more about it. It’s nice to be able to explore. I’m happy about it.
Can you talk about the process of how you come to pick out a song? I start with the script and start to sort of get some initial ideas. Sometimes the writers will put in ideas of songs they think might work. That will then usually go into the pool. Then I’ll see the rough cut and usually we’ll sit down and go through them [Pauses to answer the phone:] So sorry, I’m actually trying to track down some square dance music for True Blood right now, so my square dance associate is out at Amoeba Records shopping around. So, the producers get together with our music editor and we go through the show. We go ‘is there going to be a song here? What are we looking for? Is this going to be scored?’ Then we all go back to our homes and offices and studios. Then I’ll go back to Alan with 3-5 choices based on what we talked about. Hopefully he’ll say ‘Gary, brilliant! Once again! How do you do it?!’ Generally I find stuff that he likes but there are times that I have to go back to the drawing board, or what he thought originally might work is not working so I have to take that in a different direction. I also have to keep an eye on the budget so there are a lot of financial pieces I have to put together. If we’re going to go for a big song at the end credits then maybe we need to go for a real cheap song in the background at Merlotte’s.
Have there been times when you’ve wanted to go after a big song but didn’t have the budget to do it? Or it’s just been denied? We’ve definitely been denied before. I’m not sure if I should mention names, but we were trying to get a really cool Wilco song from the new album for the show, but it got denied because they were looking for a very special place for this particular song and they didn’t see it in this scene. And it was crazy because it was a beautiful scene. Mostly we get what we want and sometimes budget is a factor, but if you want something bad enough you figure out a way to get it.
So Alan might say ‘how do you do it?’ But how do you do it? What’s the creative process in your mind? I’m on the computer, I’ll go into iTunes, and I have a special section in my office of things people have sent for True Blood, and stuff I’ve gathered for the show, and just kind of freestyle to get creative about it. Then I’ll start making a folder ‘episode 201 scene 8,’ and maybe I’ll have ten songs in there. I’ll put them up against the picture and then narrow it down to 3-5. I don’t have a great formula. Sometimes it’s just getting up from my desk, walking over to the stacks of CD’s and seeing what jumps out at me.
That could take anywhere from five minutes to five days. Yeah. Sometimes it comes really easy or sometimes there’s some little nuance to a scene that I just can’t nail.
Is there one you remember taking a long time to nail? There are some scenes coming up with a very important vampire in his lair and we were having a little trouble finding exactly the right tone for him. We went through classical, some freestyle jazz things, then we went to some electronic groove things, and I think we’ve kind of nailed it but it definitely took several tries.
Do you ever just hear songs and think they might be great for the show, not even knowing where or when it’ll work? Well I also do a radio show on KCRW so I’m always kind of throwing things into my KCRW folder. My radio and TV folders will often overlap.
What’s your personal collection like? How many records and CD’s do you have? What about on your iPod? I don’t know how much music I have on my iPod. I have harddrives full of music. I still have a lot of vinyl, not that I play it that much anymore. I have stacks and stacks, and shelves and shelves of CD’s.
How many gigs of music would you say you have? I don’t quite know. My mind doesn’t really work that way [laughs]. People are also sending me stuff all the time which is kind of a blessing and a curse because I’m always stressed that all this music is coming in and I don’t have time to listen to everything. When am I going to find the time to listen to it all? I just try to keep everything organized. It’s a constant battle. Actually, one of my favorite things to do is prune my record collection. I pick a few things out and add a Best Of here, and pull out all the individual discs.
Throw an Old Gin Blossoms album out. [laughs] Yeah, I only need the Best Of the Gin Blossoms, not every single album.
When you’re doing something you love so much personally as a profession, the lines between the two can get blurred. Does it ever get to you? Well I certainly don’t go out to shows as much as I used to. I’m not living and breathing every second after the work day is over. I feel very fortunate, though. This was always my dream. I always wanted to work a job that I love. I didn’t want to work a day job and then listen to music at night. It’s definitely a lot of work and I still love it completely. It’s what I loved all my life. When I worked in record stores, or managed bands, or on radio it was like ‘what can I do to get more free records?!’

TRUE BLOOD

About True Blood
True Blood is a series created and produced by Alan Ball. It is based on the Sookie Stackhouse book series; also known as The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris. True Blood premiered on September 7, 2008.
The series takes place in Bon Temps, a made up town in Louisanna. It follows Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress at Merlotte’s(owned by Sam Merlotte, a shapeshifter who watches over Sookie as a collie dog) who falls in love with a vampire(Bill). Sookie has telepathic abilities but is unable to read Bill’s mind since vampires have no brainwave activity. She and her brother Jason were raised by their grandmother.
There are a string of murders in Bon Temps. Who is the killer? After Jason is jailed and accused, even for his own grandmother’s death, the murderer is revealed. Rene , a co-worker of Jason’s with a heavy “cajun” accent, comes out as the murderer.
